Kenneth W. 'Kenny' Thomas

Kenneth W. "Kenny" Thomas, 55, Sunrise Beach, died Feb. 22, 2010, at University Hospital in Columbia.

Kenny was born May 2, 1954, in Fort Morgan, Colo. He was the son of the late Roger Rebo and Janet and Bob Lane of Belton. Kenny married his friend, Sandra S. “Sandy” Thomas on Dec. 12, 1975. They were married for 21 years.

He was a drill sergeant in the Army until he was medically discharged in 1976. He spent most of his life working in the heating and air cooling field. He enjoyed country music, fishing, the lake, woodworking, his grandchildren, having a good time, the Lord, and his dog and best friend, “Sadie.” He is survived by four children, Michael and Gail Thomas, Shawnee, Kan., Lisa and Dean Riley, Independence, Krissie and Eric Edwards, Tipton, and Stephanie Thomas and Jackie Davis, Belton; eight grandchildren, Aidan Thomas, Blake Riley, Dylan Edwards, Rylan Edwards, Ryker Edwards, Kylan Edwards, Dayton Davis and Gage Davis; two sisters, Kathy and Kimberly; and other relatives and friends.

The family is especially grateful to all the caregivers and staff at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital and the University of Missouri Hospital which provided such wonderful support.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Friday, March 5, at Meisenheimer Funeral, Tipton. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m.
