In a play directed by Norm Geyer, county residents, including a cast of children, performed “It’s the Orphan Train,” a play written by Denise Grow. Set in the Cass County Courthouse of 1910, players depicted a story based on actual children and incidents from the Orphan Train period of 1856 to 1929, where children were brought from places such as New York and offered to potential adoptive parents throughout the countryside.
