It was a day that Raymore-Peculiar athletic director Tom Kruse called exciting and sad at the same time as six seniors signed letters of intent to play collegiate athletics on National Signing Day.

Students, families and coaches attended the ceremony in the gym where each student was recognized and given a chance to say a few words of thanks.

“We’ve been playing our sports for a long time and we work really hard at what we do and we really appreciate (the support),” Marc Harrison said after signing his letter of intent to play football at Missouri Western State University.

Several athletes extended thanks to coaches and teammates and each thanked family members for their support.

“I appreciate how my mom washes my dirty football clothes,” Harrison said with a laugh. “Hopefully I can pay you back for that someday.”

Amber Ewert signed a letter of intent to play softball at Southeast Missouri State University. Ewert thanked her parents for their support and the time commitment they made throughout her high school career.

“You were always there,” Ewert said to her father. “You made it a priority to be there for all the practices and games. You sacrificed so much of yourself and I can never tell you how much that really means.”

Andrew Mueller, who will be playing football at South Dakota State University next year, said he was particularly appreciative of the support of the community and the opportunity he had to play football at Ray-Pec.

“Its really been an honor playing for this school, putting on a jersey every Friday night,” Mueller said. “I have really appreciated being able to represent this school, this program and this town.”

Marc Harrison College: Missouri Western University (St. Joseph, MO) Sport: Football Major: Secondary Education Harrison is a three year letter-winner in both football and track. Playing both defensive back and running back for the Panthers, Harrison was selected to the all-conference team three years, the all-district team, and this past year was named to the All-Metro and All-State teams.

Andrew Mueller College: South Dakota State University (Brookings, SD) Sport: Football Major: Engineering Mueller is a three year letter-winner in football. As an offensive lineman for the Panthers, Mueller has been selected to all-conference, all-district, all-metro and all-state teams each of the past two seasons. Mueller is also a four year letter-winner in wrestling.

Amber Ewert College: Southeast Missouri State University (Cape Girardeau, MO) Sport: Softball Major: Journalism Ewert is a three year letter-winner in softball. As a center-fielder for the Panthers, Ewert is an all-conference member and plays competitively for he Kansas City Zephyrs in the spring and summer.

Scott Thario-Lewis College: Missouri Valley College (Marshall, MO) Sport: Football Major: Business Thario-Lewis is a first year letter-winner in football. In his first year at Ray-Pec, Thario-Lewis played defensive end for the Panthers and was selected to he all-conference team.

Aubri Renshaw College: Washburn University (Topeka, KS) Sport: Volleyball Major: Education Renshaw is a four year letter-winner in volleyball. As an outside hitter for the Panthers, Renshaw has been selected to first team all-conference, first team all-district, first team all-region and second team all-metro. Renshaw played a big part in the Panthers 20-win seasons for three consecutive years. Renshaw was also selected to the Missouri all-star team this past season.

Brandon Bossler College: Avila University (Kansas City, MO) Sport: Football Major: Nursing Bossler is a two year letter-winner in football. Bossler has been a two year starter as an offensive lineman for the Panthers.
